The Roadside Bazaar of Stolen Goods: When Your Delivery Driver Becomes the Competition
Who knew your next 'Add to Cart' experience could culminate in a roadside bazaar instead of your doorstep? It seems some enterprising individuals are taking 'last-mile delivery' a tad too literally, establishing pop-up shops where the only thing missing is, well, a receipt. Perhaps we should applaud the sheer audacity, if only it weren't for the pesky detail of those goods being, you know, stolen from legitimate customers waiting eagerly for their gadgets.
This particular spectacle unfolded in Gujarat, where a 26-year-old Flipkart delivery agent found himself in hot water after Bhavnagar police recovered a trove of illicit merchandise valued at Rs 4.6 lakh. The haul included 13 mobile phones, Apple AirPods, smartwatches, and perfumes, all allegedly pilfered from customer parcels in Surat about 15 days prior. The arrest underscores the ongoing challenges e-commerce companies face in securing their supply chain and ensuring customer trust amidst such audacious schemes.
